The Bootleg Beatles, a Beatles tribute band, will represent for the Fab Four as they face off against the The Rolling Stones at the festival. While critics may scoff, the tribute band allegedly pulled the biggest crowd the music festival had ever seen on their acoustic stage when they performed in 2010.

The Bootleg Beatles begin their set in the festival’s Acoustic Tent 20 minutes after the Stones begin their long-awaited headline set on the festival’s Pyramid Stage.

In an interview with The Independent, Andre Barreau, the “George” of the Bootleg Beatles and the only remaining original member, said he and his black-market Beatles band have the edge over the Stones.

“The Stones have original members which we don’t,” Barreau said. “But, if you pile up the best [songs] of the Beatles and the Stones, then the Beatles song pile is higher.”

The tribute band is slotted for a 30-song monster set ranging from the years of Beatlemania to the Flower Power era. The contraband Beatles are ready to Braveheart this battle, too. Even though they are playing the acoustic tent, the boys are taking special precautions to make sure Keith Richards does not drown out their flawless harmonies.

“We’re plugging in,” said Barreau. “We’ll really crank it out. It’s Glastonbury so we can do the rockier Beatles songs like Helter Skelter.”

The Rick Rubin-produced 13 marks their first studio album with original frontman Ozzy Osbourne since 1978′s Never Say Die!. Though some fans have been put off by the absence of original drummer Bill Ward (who declined to be part of the reunion due to contractual disagreements, his place taken by former Rage Against The Machine/Audioslave drummer Brad Wilk), clearly the anticipation of a new Sabbath album with their original frontman made up for Ward’s absence with many fans. The record moved nearly 155,000 copies in its first week, according to data from Nielsen SoundScan (via Billboard). The band will tour this summer with Tommy Clufetos, from Ozzy’s solo band, on drums.

Last week’s No. 1 –  Sabbath disciples Queens Of The Stone Age‘s …Like Clockwork – fell from the top spot to No. 15, selling nearly 24,000 more copies for a grand total of nearly 115,000 in two weeks.

One other legendary artist – Hans Zimmer – entered the Top 10 this week.  Thanks to the Superman reboot, Man Of Steel, dominated at the box office this weekend, the original score, composed by Zimmer, did quite well also, selling 28,652 to enter the charts at No. 9.

The song they chose, too, was one of the group’s most unabashedly twangy numbers, “Dead Flowers,” from 1971′s Sticky Fingers.

Mick Jagger shared vocals with Paisley, and even strapped on an acoustic guitar for the occasion; then Paisley and Ron Wood shared a guitar solo.

The song came early in the Stones’ set last night, right after another of the group’s more country-flavored songs, “Wild Horses” (which also appeared on Sticky Fingers, and actually first saw the light of day a year before that on a Flying Burrito Brothers album, thanks to Keith Richards’ friendship with Burrito bandleader Gram Parsons).

Legendary rocker Peter Frampton joined the Carter Alan show to talk about, among other topics, his “Guitar Circus” tour that rolls through the Indian Ranch in Webster, Mass. on June 30.

Carter asked Frampton about famous tour-mate B.B. King, who despite being a fellow Gibson guitar supporter he’d never met before this year.

“He can sing more with one note than most can say with a thousand,” he said of the blues legend.

He also asked Frampton about his good friend David Bowie, who released a new album earlier this year, and Frampton said Bowie “sounds like he’s on top of the world.”

Karlson & McKenzie – Faces Only A Mother Would Love

Every year the highest honor in radio-dom is bestowed upon 50 lucky gentlemen who make their living behind the golden microphones in radio studios across America.

We’re talking, of course, about the Top 50 Not So Hottest Radio DJ’s of 2013. This celebrated collection of those with faces for radio is compiled and ranked each year by some assistant producer at a radio station in Houston.

This year, we were honored to have not one, but two nominees in the Top 20 on 100.7 WZLX.

Our very own Kevin Karlson (#17) and Pete McKenzie (#13) can be considered the top two “not so hottest” looking radio personalities in New England!

Mumbles, a morning sidekick on radio station KRBE in Houston, put the second annual list together after what we assume were many late nights and painstaking research.

He writes, “This list is for all of us guys that never get any attention because we aren’t as good looking as other radio DJ’s. Every year there is a list for the hottest men in radio and I never make that list. The not so good looking guys need attention too. We do all the work.”

We at 100.7 WZLX would also like to extend congratulations to our colleague Adolfo downstairs at 98.5 The Sports Hub who came in 30th. With a little less work, he too can join the storied higher ranks of the Not So Hottest.
