Rock Talk With Carter: Back in 1987, U2 Opened Up For Themselves as ‘The Dalton Brothers’

by Alisha Jackson

On this day in 1987 U2 opened up for themselves at a concert in Los Angeles. They came onstage wearing wigs and cowboys hats and called themselves the “Dalton Brothers.”

Bono said, “We do two kinds of music. We do country and we do western.” The band opened as the ‘Dalton Brothers” three times on the Joshua Tree tour, which is where their concert movie Rattle and Hum was born.

Carter didn’t get to see U2 perform as the “Dalton Brothers,” but he did see them perform with a country band back in the day. Hear all about it in his Rock Talk video above!
