Rod Stewart Receives Knighthood From Britain’s Prince William

That’s Sir Rod Stewart to you!

The 71-year old rocker was honored (or should we say, honoured) by being knighted at Buckingham Palace in London on Tuesday morning (October 11th).

The ceremony was presided over by Prince William and attended by Stewart’s immediate family, including his wife Penny Lancaster, and two of his youngest children, Alastair and Aiden.

Newly knighted for his services to music and charity, he will be known formally as Sir Roderick David Stewart.

“[Prince William] congratulated me on my long career – and I said how happy this made me,” Stewart told the BBC on his conversation with the Duke of Cambridge at the ceremony. “I just wish my mum and dad had been here to see it.”

Stewart joins a long list of knighted rockers, including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Mick Jagger, and Tom Jones.
