In 1980, John Lennon ended a 5-year self-imposed silence from the music business when he granted an interview to Newsweek magazine. And in 1996, Lennon’s son Julian was the anonymous buyer who purchased Paul McCartney’s handwritten recording notes for “Hey Jude.” That song was written for Julian when John Lennon separated from Cynthia Lennon in 1968.
