The Eagles’ Glenn Frey Immortalized By New Statue Standing Near The Corner in Winslow, Arizona

That famous corner in Winslow, Arizona became a memorial to one of America’s most-storied rock stars over the weekend.

On Saturday, the small Arizona city, immortalized in the Eagles‘ famous song, Take It Easy, dedicated a life-sized statue of the late Glenn Frey in Standin’ On The Corner Park.

Frey’s bronze likeness joins a similar style statue that officially is a “life sized man with a guitar from the Eagles song, Take It Easy.” However, many according to the Associated Press, consider it to be a strong resemblance to the song’s co-writer, Jackson Browne.

The statue cost $22,000 and was funded by the city, the Standin’ on the Corner Foundation, and a local classic rock radio station in nearby Phoenix.

Standing on the opposite end of the park, Frey’s statue, dressed in a shirt that exudes “Song Power,” appears to look out on the scene depicted in Take It Easy.

and such a fine sight to see
It’s a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin’ down to take a look at me
