It’s unclear whether the Hollywood Vampires or Aerosmith will record together again, but Joe Perry fans can rest easy knowing that the Boston-bred guitar legend plans on sharing new solo material with fans next year.
Perry talked to The Musician’s Ear about the solo project he began before hitting the road with the Hollywood Vampires. “It’s in the can right now,” he said. “I just need to polish it up a bit more. I’m looking to release some of it in the new year.”
As for future projects, the guitarist says that he still has lots of great riffs left in him. “That’s why I keep making solo records,” he explained. “I’m still searching for those things. I’ve still got lots of riffs inside me, and lots of riffs on my iPhone. (laughs) They need to get transferred onto some kind of recording format with some bass and drums.”
Perry shared the same sentiment as Fleetwood Mac’ Stevie Nicks in reference to taking breaks from his main band. He credits his time apart from Aerosmith for his fresh ideas. “That’s the whole point of taking time off,” he declared.
