Sunday Morning Blues: September 25th, 2016

Boz Scaggs plays the Lynn Auditorium on October 9, so we had to start with his legendary version of the blues classic “Loan Me a Dime” with Duane Allman chiming in on that unforgettable guitar. Add to that the fabulous horn section from Muscle Shoals Studio back in 1969 and you’ve got one of the best performances ever created off the stage.

We built an Allmans-themed block after that, continuing with the rare studio version of “Statesboro Blues,” shelved when the band decided to release a live album instead of a planned third studio release in 1971. We finished with Susan Tedeschi and the Derek Trucks Band at the 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival, a performance collected on Eric Clapton’s meaty new 3-CD set “Crossroads Revisted.”

The set features jams with people like Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, John Mayer, Vince Gill, Jeff Beck, ZZ Top, Ronnie Wood, BB King, Robert Cray…in fact, who isn’t on this new album?!

Also – thanks to Brian Jeffrey from Derry, NH for the awesome CHOOSE YOUR BLUES list!!
