For one band, there is still a struggle to release the demons deep within. Yes, the times have changed, the faces have weathered a few storms, and a deeper calm seems to have set in, but there is no less thought in its message. Have the chains that bound this group finally softened, or is the intensity just more refined? Well one thing is for sure, ALICE IN CHAINS might be finally beyond the proverbial box.
Yes, there has been a decade or three since ALICE IN CHAINS started out with its metal laden music in a wave of grunge, but have things really changed? We all know of the demons that changed the band’s line-up forever, but the one thing that has not changed is the gritty soul that this group was known for. The strain from within is still there, but the maturity of its members have resulted in a much more refined delivery when that pain is released on stage.
The Rooster came to roost recently at the House of Blues Boston for the start of their tour’s second leg of dates. The band, being led by William DuVall seems determined and humbly playing fan favorites, along with tracks from their 2013 album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. Even with three years gone by since the last offering, the band only plans on starting to discuss new music this fall.
SIXX STRINGS had a chance to catch the show and get all the photographic evidence from guest photographer Just Bill’s lens. Take a look and remember that there are “No Excuses” for not knowing Alice In Chains’ dark sorrow.
