Joey Kramer Denies Aerosmith Farewell Tour

by Alisha Jackson

When Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer took over Karlson and McKenzie’s morning show back in June, he confirmed that the band would be hitting the road in 2017 for a world tour. “We’re going to South America this October, and then we’ll be back and we’re taking some time off, and then after that we’re thinking about embarking on a world tour,” he revealed. “[The] world tour will take us probably the better part of 2 1/2 years.”

While Kramer didn’t call the tour a “farewell,” his bandmate Steven Tyler did. Days before Kramer confirmed that Aerosmith would be hitting the road for a world tour, Tyler told Howard Stern, “We’re doing a farewell tour – but only because it’s time.”

Three months later, Kramer is finally commenting on Tyler’s claim. During an interview with Culture, Kramer once again confirmed that Aerosmith will be touring in 2017, but this time he clarified that it doesn’t necessarily mean “goodbye.” “As far as I know there is no farewell tour,” Kramer said. In response to why Tyler told Stern there would be, Kramer blamed his bandmate’s big mouth. “Because it was something we were talking about, and he has a habit of projecting on things that haven’t been completed yet,” he replied.

Well, there you have it. Aerosmith fans don’t have to miss a thing. Not just yet, anyway.
