SixX Strings: Providence Metal Fest is Ready to Melt Faces Once Again

The Providence Metal Fest will be coming to life once again this fall with a vengeance like no other!  A face melting fury will descend upon the country’s smallest state with an intensity far beyond its size. This is no ordinary show or tour stop for the heavier genres.  This is a life long journey to the faithful that live and breathe METAL.  This isn’t just another fest, this is dedication!

Fête Music Hall will host this 3rd annual event, which will feature some of the best international touring metal bands to thoroughly pummel the festival fans into submission!  This year’s line-up will feature Swedish metal masters headliner SOILWORK along with support from UNEARTH, BATTLECROSS, WOVENWAR, DARKNESS DIVIDED and many more.  The level of bands being brought together for one show is a wet dream for the heavy genre faithful.  It surely seems that Providence has no idea what is in store for it this year, with such an event being laid down within city limits.

The intensity from this annual festival has become a heralded event for the area’s rabid metal community.  This home-grown metal festival has forged a commitment to bring the Rhode Island area a level of events rarely seen within the states’ borders; and based on its humble beginnings, you can see why.  There is no corporate machine behind the curtain on this one folks, this all local blood, sweat and tears.

Festival promoter Black Sheep Entertainment is proving to be truly committed to bringing a vibrant and flourishing metal scene back to Southern New England.  Yes, a lot of other talent buyers and promoters have stated the same, but very few have ever been able to deliver this type of event with a sense of humbleness and good old fashioned hard work.

When asked about why he does all this for the area’s local music scene, Black Sheep Entertainment owner Justin Marcotte said:

“The local music scene isn’t dead. It’s alive and kicking ass.  Discover local bands.  You never know when you may discover your next favorite band.”

To add another level of local support, this years’ event will be emceed by non-other than MetalHead Mike of the Karlson and McKenzie Show on WZLX 100.7/CBS Radio Boston!  Now I know what you are thinking… WZLX and modern metal?

Well when asked, Mike explained it all out for us:

“You’re probably wondering, what does a classic rock radio station have to do with a metal show?  Well I’ll answer it for you!  EVERYTHING!  From Deep Purple to Metallica and in between, classic rock has influenced metal bands for decades.  I just happen to be a big metal fan that produces Karlson & McKenzie on 100.7 WZLX, giving me the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for metal on the air (much to the chagrin of the hosts in jest).

Shawn SixX connected me with Fete & Justin Marcotte for this awesome show with Soilwork, Unearth, Wovenwar, Battlecross and Darkness Divided!  I am beyond excited to be a part of this show and bring metal to the masses whenever, wherever I can.”

Providence Metal Fest 3 doors will swing wide open at 2:00 p.m. on October 14th for this all ages event.  Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event.  I strongly suggest you get yours soon, for this is bound to sell out.  Don’t worry though, if you tune into the WZLX K and M Show and visit WZLX.com, there will be chances to win tickets!

So metal-heads, make sure you get out and support your local music scene and venue.  If you say you are into metal and don’t get out to Providence Metal Fest 3, then you might want to turn in your black t-shirt collection now!

SIXX STRINGS will be thrashing around the show and interviewing fans as well, so make sure you come and say HI!  And just remember when in doubt, METAL RULZ!!!  \m/

Check it,
