Rock Talk With Carter: The Release of Pink Floyd’s First Album

On this day in 1967, Pink Floyd released its groundbreaking first album, Piper at the Gates of Dawn. The group’s co-founder and original guitarist Syd Barret wrote most of the record.

You read about how much music changed as a result of the BeatlesSgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album, but by that time, Pink Floyd already had their vision in place. Their album just happened to come out a couple months after Sgt. Pepper’s did.
