Sunday Morning Blues: July 10th, 2016

Sunday Morning Blues is coming up on its 17th Anniversary on WZLX. The show began in 1999 as a place to take a Classic Rock listener one step beyond to explore the music that combined with country-western sounds back in the 50’s, prompting Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and a host of others to rock around the clock.

The early shows featured a large percentage of rock and roll and the music that inspired the bands you’re so familiar with: The Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers Band, Cream, J. Geils Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top and a thousand others. Over the years, you’ve become more educated and so have we: the playlist of a Sunday Morning blues now contains everything from local artists to contemporary blues, classic blues and also the more familiar classic rock.

Now there’s a new revolution of blues players: Gary Clark Junior, Selwyn Birchwood, Joe Bonamassa, Samantha Fish, Mike Zito and many others insure that this music will be around for years to come. Hopefully we’ll be around for a long time too, bringing you the continuing sounds of the blues every Sunday morning from 9-noon! Thanks for being there for all these years!
