When Joey Kramer asked Gary Cherone and Pat Badger of Extreme what their plans for next year were, Pat quipped that he was waiting for Gary to tell him. Such is the life of every Extreme fan. Luckily, Joey was able to get some info out of the Malden native, and may have even recruited the Boston-bred rockers for Aerosmith‘s upcoming confirmed world tour.
“We’re recording some stuff, and we’re hoping to get something out for next year and do a full-fledged tour, because we also have Japan and Korea for later this year,” Gary told Kramer. “I’m keeping you guys in mind,” WZLX’s guest host casually mentioned, “because we’re [Aerosmith] going out to do a world tour.” An excited Cherone said “Keep us on the short list. That would be fun,” to which Pat added “That would be tremendous.” Joey Kramer repeated Pat’s statement in agreement. “That would be tremendous. I think it would be a good combo and it might work,” Kramer said. “I’m going to make the suggestion.”
Gary Cherone brought up that the fact that it already did work once before. “I don’t know if you remember,” he said to Joey, “but that was one of the thrills for Extreme. We toured with you guys, I think it was in ’95 on the Get a Grip tour in Europe.” Joey Kramer remembered the tour, and said “That’s where it would be again, man. It would be Europe, Japan, every place.”
When our guest host asked Gary about his cohort Nuno Bettencourt, he said that he’s doing great, and that the two had just worked on some new material together. “Nuno is doing great. I just came back a couple days ago for a week in LA, writing and recording. Things are good. He’s good. I’m ready to go back on tour.” When Kramer told Gary to send him his best, Pat joked “You can say hi to him when we’re out on tour with you guys. You can hang out with Nuno every day.”
Extreme also announced on the show that their Pornograffitti 25th anniversary live DVD is coming out this Fall.
