Rock Talk with Carter: The Day The Rolling Stones Closed Down Manning Bowl in Lynn

On June 24th of 1966, the Rolling Stones began their fifth tour of the U.S. with a concert at the Manning Bowl in Lynn, Massachusetts. The crowd was rowdy and the police used tear gas. As a result it was the last time the Bowl was used for a concert until 1985.

Three bands warmed up the show, including the Standell’s, whose song you may know below.
