Guns N’ Roses Kick Off ‘Not In This Lifetime’ Tour With Backstage Video

by Alisha Jackson

Today marks day one of Guns N’ Roses’ Not In This Lifetime… tour, a countdown which the band has been sharing loudly on social media over the past few days.

Up until today, their videos have featured footage of the band’s gear set to the tune of GNR classics.

But today, members of the band are finally speaking up. Unfortunately, Axl Rose is nowhere to be seen in the latest video, and the remaining major players are only shown during rehearsal. But the newest members of GNR, keyboardists Melissa Reese and Dizzy Reed and drummer Frank Ferrer opened up about their favorite GNR tunes, and what their pre-show rituals are.

Dizzy Reed, who has been a member of Guns N’ Roses since 1990, picked a song before his time with the band as his favorite. “I’ve gotta go back to my first favorite, which was ‘Nightrain,’” he says. As for warming up, Reed likes to “get a little loose” before hitting the stage, usually from a shot of his favorite drink — Jägermeister.

Frank Ferrer’s favorite Guns N’ Roses song is “You Could Be Mine,” and while he also enjoys a drink before getting on stage, he prefers a much more calming beverage. Ferrer says that he likes “being alone and quiet,” and having “maybe a little glass of wine.”

Melissa Reese, who is the newest members of Guns N’ Roses, calls out “Coma” as her favorite GNR track, and she prefers “to get all jacked up on sugar and ready to go.”

Reese added in that she can relate to the fans, saying, “I’m one of you guys and I’m up here experiencing this in the same way you are.”

Guns N’ Roses kick off the second leg of their Not In This Lifetime… tour tonight at Ford Field in Detroit.
