Sunday Morning Blues: June 19th, 2016

This week on the show we began by acknowledging the great talent of Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher, who passed away on June 14, 1995 at the age of 47.

One of the premier blues guitarists whose talent was on par with Eric Clapton’s best, Gallagher preferred a battered Fender Stratocaster that he refused to repaint or alter in order to preserve what he thought was its perfect tone.

These days, you can buy a signature Rory Gallagher model Strat from Fender and it looks just as beat up as the original – even though they are all new and un-played! With that in mind we began the show, in fact the whole first hour, with some masters of the Strat – from Gallagher to Hendrix!

Thanks to John in Tewksbury for the great CHOOSE YOUR BLUES list! He’s a long-time listener, says he rarely misses a show, and we appreciate it!
