Ringo Starr is a man who arguably has everything, but he’s asking for a birthday gift from all of us this year.
The former Beatle turns 76 next month (July 7th), and in the wake of the shootings in Orlando over the weekend, he’s asking that everyone take a moment on his birthday to simply ask for ‘peace and love.’

Starr sat down for an interview with The Associated Press on Monday afternoon and expressed his disbelief in the tragedy on Sunday.
“I don’t understand that mindset that you could decide to injure and kill a lot of innocent people,” Starr said to the AP. “I’m really not a supporter of wars either, but you can understand there’s two sides having a go at each other. But this is so random.”
Ringo believes that his trademark message of peace and love is more important than ever, and so he’s asking the world for it as a birthday present.
“You know what would be great if everybody at noon on the 7th of July went ‘peace and love,'” he said in the interview. “Wherever you are, on the bus, down the mine, wherever… You could just go ‘peace and love.’ That would be a great gift to me.”
Ringo is currently on tour with his All-Starr Band, which wraps up a few days before his birthday on July 2nd.
