Sunday Morning Blues: May 15th, 2016

Happy birthday to Taj Mahal!! Henry Saint Claire Fredericks was born in Harlem, but spent his childhood years in Springfield, MA – so we can consider him a New England treasure!

Taj turns 74 on the 17th and we had to start the show with a celebration of one of America’s great singer/songwriters.

You may recall that it was Mahal’s electric boogie rearrangement of the classic “Statesboro Blues” that the Allman Brothers nearly duplicated and made a hit of in 1971. He was a mainstay on rock and roll stages in the 60’s to the 80’s and lights up any place he plays today.

Happy birthday to Taj Mahal!

Also, thanks to Bob Burke from Holliston for the CHOOSE YOUR BLUES list of songs. Bob actually sent two lists, so we combined songs from both for an awesome set of songs! Your Sunday Morning blues T-shirt is on its way!
