All the snow earlier got me thinking of warmer climates, palm trees, sunshine and such. Robert Plant had similar thoughts when he was out on the road Touring in the early ‘90’s.
There happens to be a real City of Twentynine Palms, California, in the southern Mojave Desert, (also the home of Joshua Tree National Park. We’re looking at you too, Bono)
According to internet legend and lore, Plant was inspired by his opening act Alannah Myles. The sultry, bluesy songstress from Canada who had a big hit and video with the song “Black Velvet” you may recall.
Publicly, the Golden God has neither confirmed nor denied his muse.. He did have this to say In an interview with Network magazine he said: “We did tour together. We’re good friends. I think the world of her. She’s a great, powerful lady. She has one of the finest voices of the idiom. She was always very kind to me, very warm-hearted. But the road is the road. Forget about all the rumors, everything is true and untrue.”
