According to Heather Mills, Paul McCartney, one of the best songwriters of all time (something that even Kanye can agree on), can’t read music. If this article abruptly ends, it’s because we cannot compute.
According to The Telegraph’s interview with the former Beatle‘s wife, Heather had to take the reigns on teaching their 11-year-old daughter Beatrice how to play music due to McCartney’s inability to read sheet music.
Heather explained the situation, saying, “I taught her [Beatrice] the saxophone, because her father can’t read music so I do all the music teaching, and I’m good with languages.” While Mills hasn’t had the nicest things to say about Paul over the years (like how he is “irrelevant”), she did give her ex-hubby credit for his way with words. “She’s a brilliant poet so [she] obviously gets that from him.”
Apparently neither John Lennon nor Paul McCartney ever learned how to write down music, leaving the translating to their producer at the time, George Martin. Well hey, now I feel a little bit better about any struggles I’ve had with Beatles sheet music in the past. Odds are, John and Paul couldn’t have read it either!
Oh, and FYI, Heather left us with an amusing statement about how she doesn’t speak badly about Paul, saying “Considering what went on, the one thing I’m most proud of is I never lowered myself to the level that some parents do where they speak badly about the other parent.”
Hey Heather, remember when you called Paul irrelevant?
