A chance meeting can yield the most promising results. That was certainly the case with Yellabird.
Introduced in 2011 by a mutual friend, these two Northeastern University grads quickly began collaborating on a hard-rocking, bare-bones rock duo, and soon wrote and recorded their debut EP, 2012’s Mountainosaurus.
Blending Southern rock grit with heavy blues-metal swagger, Mountainosaurus, put Yellabird on the map of the vibrant Boston scene, gaining stellar press attention from publications such as Under the Gun Review, and Deli Magazine.
Their second release, 2013’s five-song EP, Little Brother, featuring guest drummer Benjamin Hughes of Sand Reckoner, bolsters that riff-driven stride and takes their already-heavy sound and gives it a major boost in volume and intensity.
Since then, they have been making their hard-earned rounds, gaining radio play and fans both inside and out of the Northeast and starting work on a new EP in the mountains of northern Pennsylvania.
Yellabird are poised to make a big splash in 2014, with a new EP, new videos, live shows, special releases, and participating in the 35th annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble
