Vary Lumar // Class of 2014

2014 Rock 'n' Roll Rumble

Vary Lumar are Paul DePasquale – lead vocals, guitar and keyboards, Robert Laff – bass, guitar and keys, Christopher G. Brown – guitar and synths,  Rob Fusco – drums and synths

Formed in 2004, Boston’s Vary Lumar are known for their penchant for smart, textured, and catchy post-prog rock and a live show as dynamic and ethereal as that of Pink Floyd, The Cure, or Radiohead.

Their 2008 debut, Waiting Room, showed a versatile sound based around an alternative rock core, creating a complex blend of dark psychedelic rock, pop, instrumental soundscapes, electronic, and jazz.

It received airplay on over 150 radios stations nationwide, and was named one of Performer Magazine’s Albums of the Month. Their follow-up album, 2011’s, The Jig Is Up, emerged from frontman Paul DePasquale’s journey with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

The band’s recent release, 2013’s Capture, marked a continued evolution of Vary Lumar’s style, refreshing the band musically and pleasantly surprising critics with “the stellar moonlight pop” of the six song EP.

It  has been featured on local radio and named among online music magazine Vanyaland’s Year in ReView as a year-end favorite
