Harris Hawk are Anne Warnock – lead vocals and guitar, Oliver Hinds – guitar, Mike Sullivan – bass, Steve Shannon – drums
Harris Hawk are a heavy, riff-driven, female-fronted, forward-looking, retro distortion bomb from Boston. Guitarists Oliver and Anne have been playing together for about two years, but the band itself is about a year-and-a-half old. They all come from somewhere else. Mostly.
After moving to Boston from Los Angeles, Anne sang in Pray for Polanski for a number of years, but now prefers to play guitar in this band. Oliver has been recording himself and his bands since his teen years North Carolina. Since coming to Boston, he’s been working in the metal band Slow Mover, in the grunge band Effzero, and on his own project, This Way Children.
Don’t listen to those bands. They aren’t good.
“Sully” is really from Boston. Go figure. He likes his bass like he likes his beer — dank and fitting well in the pocket.
Steve “Shannon” Shannon grew up on Seattle grunge and then graduated to progressive rock, playing the Florida hardcore scene before migrating north for college. He is still learning to play drums with his mouth closed.
