Nearly a year after Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast, New Jersey native Jon Bon Jovi is still showing support for his hometown. On July 8 (Monday), the rocker announced he would donate $1 million to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund, which looks to support the recovery and rebuilding efforts of the communities impacted by the storm

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and his wife Mary Pat, who heads the Relief Fund, thanked Bon Jovi in a ceremony that took place in the rocker’s hometown of Sayreville.

“From day one, Jon has been one of the most visible faces for Sandy recovery here in his hometown of Sayreville and throughout the entire state,” Governor Christie said.

Adding, “This incredibly generous donation from Bon Jovi to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund will go a long way in the rebuilding process.”

The money Bon Jovi donated will help the Relief Fund’s efforts to assist organizations that are helping with the home repairs and rebuilding projects throughout the state.
