Tom Hamilton has pulled out of Aerosmith’s current tour in Australia due to an unspecified health issue. The bassist reportedly flew back to the U.S. to treat a “chest infection.”
According to the report from Noise11.com, Hamilton is back home and recovering. Backup bassist David Hull has already flown to Australia to replace him, while Hamilton plans to rejoin the band as soon as he recovers, which could be as soon as May 8 in Manila, Philippines.
Since reports indicate Hamilton is already recovering, the illness may not be considered serious. His “chest infection” could refer to pneumonia, tuberculosis or a similar illness, or something less severe. But the illness was clearly significant enough to get Hamilton medical treatment back home.
Assuming Hamilton fully recovers, his health should not threaten the band’s upcoming concert at the Foxwoods MGM Grand Theater on July 10.
