On this day in 1969, John Lennon married Yoko Ono at the Rock of GIbraltar in the U.K. Many Beatles fans may look upon Ono with disdain, believing she played a major role in the demise of the Beatles, but hey at least John was happy.

The wedding marked the beginning of an adventurous week for the couple, which also included a trip to Paris and an organized “Love-In” as a form of peaceful protest against the Vietnam War.
