Like Neil Young and Alejandro Escovedo, Glenn Yoder glides between churning guitar-driven rock and folk-tinged acoustic balladry. After years of recording and extensive touring with Cassavettes, he broke out on his own in 2009 when that band officially called it quits to pursue other projects.
It was then that Yoder enlisted Jeff Katz, who he had previously toured with when Katz played guitar for Girls Guns & Glory, and the two formed the foundation of The Western States. Of their most recent release, Javelina, Eargazms calls it “one of the finest alt-country albums of 2013,” adding “this creepy backwoods beast of a record is full of huge pop hooks and muscular Drive-By Truckers-style rock.”
Glenn Yoder and The Western States are Glenn Yoder on vocals and guitar, Jeff Katz on guitar, Cilla Bonnie on bass, Chris Anzalone on drums.
