Blackbutton are back to making music that is relentlessly gritty and unapologetically raw.
The band returned full-force in 2012 with a fresh line-up. What didn’t change is their gruff and whiskey-soaked vocals, guitar dichotomy of heavy blues and ‘90s alt-rock and rhythm section that swells and bombasts à la Dischord-era hardcore.
Blackbutton exude the true grit and excitement of music scene freshmen. Bandleader Jordan Tavenner re-established Blackbutton by soliciting help from friend and drummer Justin Emile (Aloud, Big East), and Boston newcomer Dave Koslovsky. In the fall of 2012, they began work on new material in preparation their re-introduction into the Boston music scene. So far, the result, in addition to the strengthened live shows, is the sonic joyride/comeback track, “Still Kids.” New recordings are due in the spring of 2013.
Blackbutton are Jordan Tavenner on vocals and guitar, Justin Emile on drums, Dave Koslovsky on bass.
