The Bruins lost to the New York Rangers in OT Wednesday night, but they did have one minor victory: Adam McQuaid beat up the over-matched Brian Boyle.
The folks at HockeyFights.com agree overwhelmingly that this battle was a win for McQuaid, who took a puck to the shins from Boyle after the whistle and immediately dropped the gloves. It’s still a quick fight though, mainly because Boyle isn’t really a fighter and basically held McQuaid off until the refs intervened. But he deserved to take a bit of a beating after firing a slap shot as the refs whistled the play dead.
It’s too bad that this was the biggest win of the night for the Bruins, but going to OT against a Rangers team desperate for a win was still a pretty impressive effort.
