Just as many fans had hoped and suspected, The Rolling Stones’ barely-enough-to-be-considered-a-tour string of shows late last year won’t end there. The band confirmed that there will be another Stones tour in 2013, following up the five 50th anniversary shows in London and around NYC.
“Really, all you’re going to have to do is wait for an announcement,” guitarist Keith Richards told Rolling Stone. “[The 50 and Counting shows] went like a dream, at the same speed, man. But we barely got off the starting blocks. It would be dopey to bring things up to this level and say, ‘Well, that’s that, 50 years, bye-bye.’”
Richards later echoed the fans’ sentiments: “This thing [the 2012 shows] wasn’t enough.”RELATED: Will The Rolling Stones Expand Their Tour? A Point-By-Point Examination
The band is still figuring out exactly what their schedule will be like – how much, how long (Stones tours can last for years, after all). Jagger, who apparently took the most convincing to do the 50 and Counting tour, noted that the band is juggling “quite a few offers” for their upcoming live shows. “I’m going to see what’s on the table and discuss it with everyone,” he said. “We’ll announce it when we’ve figured it out.”
Jagger added: “I always said that we’d see how this would go, and then we’d think about doing more – or not.”
It’s worth noting that Jagger’s comments came two days after the band’s final 2012 concert in Newark, New Jersey, on December 15th. Looks like the shows went well enough for him to considering doing more.
One strong potential for 2013 is a headlining slot at Coachella for the Stones. The festival’s April 12th date appeared on the Stones’ official iPhone app in December but was quickly pulled, appearing to be a glitch. Jagger claims now to know nothing of the Coachella appearance – but the Indio, California festival itself is hinting otherwise. Last night, Coachella’s continuing set of lineup clues rolled out a curious photo showing a large stone in the grass. Is that a rolling stone? Check out the photo below, via Coachella’s official Facebook.

Coachella’s lineup will be announced later this month.
