Did a British Boy Band Rip Off The Clash?
Throwing together a group of teenage boys and having them sing cheesy pop songs to teenage girls is nothing new in music. Classic rock fans are best off just ignoring boy bands all together. But do they really have to rip off classic rock songs for their music?
One quick listen to the first five seconds of the new single from British boy band One Direction should induce a lot of eye-rolls from fans of The Clash and classic rock in general.
Sound familiar? You might recognize that opening guitar riff from a decent little number called “Should I Stay Or Should I Go.”
Do you think it’s a blatant rip-off, or just a coincidence? Either way, screw boy bands.
