In a homecoming of sorts, Boston’s own J. Geils Band (minus J. Geils himself) played for two straight nights at the House of Blues on Lansdowne St. over the weekend. The absence of the band’s namesake – and the lawsuits that are coming along with it – didn’t stop Peter Wolf & Co. from delivering an epic set, based on fan reactions on Twitter.

The guys rocked the house with a full band, complete with horn sections and backup singers, as this Instagram shot shows:

And here’s a wide view of the stage showing us another angle of the “full-ness” of the band:

This view from what looks like the VIP section at the House of Blues shows fans bunching up close to the stage to get as close to Peter Wolf as possible:

This guy is apparently a big fan of bassist Danny Klein!

The band apparently added to the fun of their “house party” live shows with balloons dropping onto the stage and the crowd, as you can see in this shot:

This tweet confirms to us that the band played a marathon set – over two and a half hours – even through the second night!

Were you at either of the J. Geils Band shows at the House of Blues? Did you miss the 27th anniversary concert for the Saturday night show? Let us know how it was in the comments!
