Axl Rose may have to stick to a schedule for once: he and Guns N Roses have signed on to perform at this years Bridge School Benefit Concert, and the young audience have a curfew to stick to. Also on the bill: Neil Young & Crazy Horse, comedian Steve Martin and his bluegrass group The Steep Canyon Rangers, The Flaming Lips, Jack White, Sarah McLachlan, Foster The People, Lucinda Williams, k.d. lang and Gary Clark Jr.
The annual Bridge School Benefit Concert, organized by Neil Young and his wife, Pegi, is a non-profit charity event held every October at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. All proceeds directly benefit the operations of The Bridge School. The Bridge School is a non-profit organization serving students with severe speech and physical impairments, and helps them to achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative and alternative means of communication.
The concerts will take place October 20 and 21 (with the same performers featured each day). The all-acoustic concert always features students from the school sitting on the stage, behind the performers. Young headlines the show every year (and has played in the past with his loud, garage rock band Crazy Horse), it will be interesting to see how Guns N Roses adopts to the format. Loud bands have pulled it off in the past: Metallica and Ministry have both been on the bill in prior years.
