Off the heels of the release of their 1974 album On The Border, The Eagles came to Lenox, MA for a live concert at the Lenox Music Inn on August 22, 1974.

The album represented a departure from the band’s familiar country sound with a collection of harder rock songs that yielded one chart-topping hit, “Best Of My Love.” The band felt producer Glyn Johns had leaned too far toward the country sound and wanted to try something different. After replacing Johns with Bill Szymczyk, they also added slide guitarist Don Felder as a permanent member after he impressed with his riffs on the track “Good Day In Hell.”

The set at the Lenox show, according to Setlist.fm, included classic cuts like “Take It Easy” and “Desperado,” but did include two tracks from On the Border, “Already Gone” and “Midnight Flyer.”
