Perry Farrell, lead singer from alternative rock powerhouse Jane’s Addiction and mastermind behind Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival, loves the Windy City and Chicago definitely loves him back. Back when Lollapalooza was summer tour (instead of the weekend festival, as it is now), Perry remembers that, “The best shows would come out of Chicago.”
A specific moment that may have cemented the city as the permanent home for Lollapalooza was when 60,000 tickets were once sold before the lineup had even been announced. Recalling Chicago’s faith in his festival Perry says, “I never forgot that.”
Perry has serious ambition for the weekend, so he’s not calling it quits when the festival wraps up at 11:00PM. Instead, his band, Jane’s Addiction, will throw an after show at the Aragon Ballroom. A ticket to the 18+ show runs a mere $15 and Perry expects the audience to be comprised of fans, friends, and musicians.
