We had to begin the show this week with a little birthday tribute to the late Willie Dixon: master songwriter, bass player and stalwart of the Chess Studios and Chess label.
The giant of the blues was born on July 1st 1915 and died in ’92, leaving behind dozens of blues classics that rival any catalogue of songs by any writer, even the immortal Robert Johnson.
We also said Happy birthday to harmonica master James Cotton, who is very much alive and well! Also, thank you Dan Seferian from Reading for the CHOOSE YOUR BLUES list of classic bluesmen. You get a Sunday morning blues T-shirt that tremendous playlist!
