Back in 2009, Sammy Hagar sold off the remainder of his Cabo Wabo tequila company, with the sale totaling near $95 million — accounting for the majority of the Red Rocker’s net worth.

Now his focus has turned to rum, and that company is flourishing as well.

Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum is a premium quality silver rum. The rum uses only pure cane sugar from Hawaii, which is regarded as the best cane growing location in the world. The rum is hand-distilled on location in Maui, giving it a flavor unique to other rums.

Hagar says, “If it explodes then we have a limit because it’s how much cane Hawaii can produce. That’s all because I wouldn’t get cane from Jamaica because then it wouldn’t taste like this.”

To complement the release of his new rum, Hagar has also started his second chain of restaurants – Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill. These restaurants were created to both promote the release of his rum and support Hagar’s philanthropic effort called The Hagar Family Foundation.

In early-May, Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum was available in limited amounts in only a handful of states. Over a month later, the distribution and quantity has taken off, Sammy announced yesterday at his Hawaiian distillery.

He posted on his Facebook page, “Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum is now in the following states distributor warehouses: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin. If you ask your local retailer and bars and restraints etc to order it for you they can get it in a day or two. Let’s go!!! Other states should be added shortly with all having product by mid July.”

Join the conversation.

Have you tried Sammy’s new rum? Or how about his tequila? Of all the celebrities with their hand in the alcohol game, which brand is your favorite?
