It’s been nearly 30 years since Thin Lizzy have released a studio album of new music. But the band apparently is still not done, as new guitarist and vocalist Damon Johnson tweeted that they are getting back in the studio today to begin recording brand new material.

The last time Thin Lizzy released a studio album of all original songs was 1983′s Thunder and Lightning. But they’ve still kept busy even decades after losing original frontman Phil Lynott and most recently Gary Moore, releasing 10 live albums and dozens of compilations in the years since. And they remain a very bankable live act in the U.K., with several summer tour dates scheduled throughout Europe.

Nothing else is known about the new Thin Lizzy album at this point, but patient fans can agree that it’s about time they got in the studio. Are you excited about new material from Thin Lizzy, or do you think it’s way too late? Share your thoughts in the comments.
