Alice Cooper to Break World Record on Next Tour

Matt Dolloff, CBS Radio Boston

Just in time for Halloween, Alice Cooper plays Wembley Stadium in London for his seven-night Halloween Night of Fear III tour on October 28. The show will be the fifth consecutive decade Cooper has played the venue, making him the only rock star to accomplish the feat, according to the London Evening Standard (via Music Week).

In addition to playing Wembley every decade since the ’70s, this will be the third year in a row Cooper’s Halloween show comes to the famed venue. The record is quite an impressive feat – considering how many big U.K. bands continue to play there – and is a testament to Cooper’s longevity.

Cooper told the Evening Standard that he wants to return to the U.K. with his Halloween show every year.

“London worked so well last year…Now we’ll try to make Halloween here an Alice Cooper thing. We want to keep coming back and be a London tradition,” he said.

In addition to the main attraction, the show will feature four bizarre sideshows that he selected through auditions in the U.K.

He gave fans a taste of what this year’s night of horror entails with an epic late-night set at this year’s Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee.

The show featured plenty of blood and fire, of course, but also included specially designed props like a giant Frankenstein monster that marched back-and-forth across the stage for “Feed My Frankenstein.”

The fun didn’t stop there, as Cooper donned an Uncle Sam suit for “Elected” while a fake Barack Obama and Mitt Romney (“the other guy”) duked it out onstage.

But even through all the over-the-top theatrics, Cooper still found time for the sheer musicianship of his band – especially stunning virtuoso lead guitarist Orianthi – to take precedent, like in “I’m Eghteen.”

Considering how special Cooper’s Bonnaroo performance was, the world record-breaking Wembley show (and the entire Halloween tour) should be just as spectacular, if not better.
