Clockwork Angels, the new studio album from Rush, doesn’t officially hit stores until next Tuesday, June 12. But the title track from the prog legends’ 19th LP is now available to stream online.
Delivering the same familiar complexity that made Rush fans fall in love with the Canadian trio in the first place, “Clockwork Angels” begins with a wash of guitar strumming and drum buildups before launching into a more open-spaced, moody groove then driving back into loudness and controlled chaos.
And as always, they reward repeated listens with little details: a bass flourish here, a drum fill there. Those smaller parts always make Rush a great musical adventure to take.
Listen to “Clockwork Angels” below and you can also check out the track “Headlong Flight” here.
