This Sunday we began with a tribute to Donald “Duck” Dunn, the house bass player of the Stax/Volt label in Memphis back in the 60′s and 70′s, which meant he played with everyone from Otis Redding to Albert King. He was also a member of the Blues Brothers Band and the one that John Belushi gave a name-check to at the end of “Soul Man.” Still active in music, Dunn passed away while on the road in Japan.

The Mystix are back! The band has returned with a new album called “Mighty Tone,” and they’ve got some high-powered help from Jerry Portnoy, harp player from the legendary Muddy waters Blues Band. We also played a brand new Jeff Pitchell album called “QAmerican Girl” which unites him with fellow guitarist Jay Geils. As the guys have performed a bunch of shows together in recent months, this is only natural. You heard them do a brand new version of “Homework.”
