This week on the show we had to begin with one of the sorest blues subjects of all – TAXES! Ugh. The old phrase: ‘Too much month at the end of the money’ rings truer in April than many! The set is about money (or a lack of) surrounding Robert Cray’s 1993 tax opus “1040 Blues.”
There were birthday tributes to Tommy Castro and the late Sean Costello who died of an overdose just 4 years ago. There’s a new CD out of Pinetop Perkins last recording before he passed away shy of the ripe age of 98. The legendary piano player for Muddy Waters was quite a character: twinkling the keys and lovin’ those ladies till the day he died. The CD is called “Heaven.” Finally, thanks to Tom Scammon of Derry, NH for his CHOOSE YOUR BLUES list!
