This week on Sunday Morning Blues we wished you a very Happy Easter! It was also the late Muddy Waters birthday a few days before (April 4), so we began with a tribute to the great singer of the blues. Muddy fit the image: he grew up on a southern plantation, lived in relative poverty, found an escape through music, migrated to the industrial north and became the king of post-war Chicago Blues.
He was as vital in his early career in the 1950′s as he was at the end of his life in April 1983. Johnny Winter, the Rolling Stones, Peter Wolf, Paul Butterfield, Rory Gallagher and countless others played with, or sat on Muddy’s knee. He’ll always be missed!
Thank you Daniel Horgan for your great Choose Your Blues list! We played it on air and you get a world-famous Sunday morning blues T-shirt!
