Now that the whole [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Black Sabbath[/lastfm] reunion speculation has exhausted itself, the band’s Facebook page posted a cryptic picture that no doubt hints at something big coming next Friday, 11-11-11.

UPDATED (11/04/2011 12:11PM EST): Noisecreep is reporting that the band has invited them to a special event next Friday, November 11, where they will make an announcement at 11:11AM. So how this is anything other than a reunion is beyond us!

The band posted the following photo Friday morning to their Facebook page, instantly sparking a comment thread speculating on what it means:

Further, BlackSabbath.com has been taken over with just the same image. Does the pic mean the long-speculated, ever-complicated reunion is actually happening and about to be officially announced? Does it merely mean some kind of reissue series is coming out?

Or maybe they’re just predicting the apocalypse – these guys do deal with dark subject matter, after all.

The date, next Friday 11/11/11, also happens to be National Heavy Metal Day, which VH1 Classic declared back in July. Whatever the band is planning for that day, you have to believe there’s some sort of tie-in to the headbanging holiday.

Tony Iommi must feel glad he didn’t get any tough questions on the potential Sabbath reunion when he talked to Karlson & McKenzie Wednesday morning. But on the status of the band, he basically said “We’re talking.” Based on the photo, are they doing more than just that?
