As far as classic heavy metal goes, Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman are about as exciting as it gets. Randy Rhoads broke serious ground and influenced a whole generation of axemen with his unique mix of classical influences and crushing metal riffs, while Ozzy wailed his way to worldwide superstardom.

Although Rhoads died tragically in a plane crash 29 years ago Sunday, his work on those two albums still resonates to this day. Arguably no guitarist with as small a body of work has influenced as many players after him as much as Rhoads did.
